Catching fire is the second book in "The Hunger Games" trilogy. It's set in the fictional post-apocoalyptic country Panam. It'made of 12 districts and a capital.
The main characters are Katnis Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, who won the Hunger games in the first book. Another character is president Snow, who is the president of Panam and trough out the course of the book is revealed to be the main antagonist. The cast is smaller than in the first book and the characters are more important. Some fo the supporting characters are Haymitch, who is the only person from district 12, who won the hunger games before the events of the first book, Gale. who is Katniss's best friend. There is one particular character, that i would like to mention and he is Finnick Odair, who is slowly started to become my favourite character from the series. He is just awesome.
It's the 75-th year since the first hunger games were held. It's a special anniversary and that means that the games will have a new special rule. I wont spoil what exactly it is, but i will tell that Katniss and Peeta have to play the games again for a second year in a row and their survival chances are even more lower than they were at the last hunger games.
The book was very good. It has a few great and unexpected plot twists and a few expected, but well presented. It's very gory at times, but it fits with everything else in the book. The character cast is awesome, but a lot of them die.
Note: The book ends with a major cliffhanger and leaves you wanting for more.
